York off-road car club

The YORCC runs the following classes :- 540 - Mabuchi, Johnson and Tamiya sealed can 540 motors and Modified - Any motor (to B.R.C.A regulations).
We race every Saturday night available to us and have an attedance of 60-80 racers on a regular basis.
The ages of racers is from 5 years old right up to people who draw their pensions.
All the club's equipment has been built up over a number of years and we now are able to create interesting tracks for the racers.
Meetings start at 6:00pm and finish at 11:00pm.
Races are five minutes in duration (where possible) and finals are held after three qualifying rounds where the individual's fastest time counts as his final position.
Race timing is done by computer but a manual input is required for each cars individual lap time.
In the near future we will be looking into purchasing an automatic lap counting system which uses a transponder attatched to each car with a wire loop under the track to sense the car.
This system is quite expensive to purchase but in the long run it may improve the meeting for all.
